So I'm Jewish. Don't practice Judaism, my heart goes more in the direction of Taoism. However, culturally, I'm a Jew, and so offer appropriate comments to my fellow practicing Jews on such occasions. Gut Yontif (kinda like have a good day) is appropriate for today. Because since Yom Kippur is a day of fasting and atonement, "Happy" Yom Kippur isn't a cool thing to say (unless you're talking to a Jewish masochist).
And though I don't atone, I do like to listen to atonal music on Yom Kippur.
But the reason I'm posting is this:
WGN tv in Chicago tried to offer a message. Unfortunately, the image they used was the old yellow star badge the Nazis made the Jews wear, complete with the background of prisoner stripes.
Not much of a diary here, but this was just so outrageous I had to post it.
See the story HERE.
Guess fact checkers are a dying breed. Of course they issued an apology. This IS Chicago. And they're reviewing policy procedures about using image banks. Sheesh.
If you feel like applying for a fact checking job, or just wish to enter a complaint to WGN, here's their number: 773-528-2311
Gut Yontif, everyone.
