We (I) knew the "new" Republican-controlled Congress was going to be the source of much pain in our asses. Sadly, they constantly manage to surpass my fearful expectations. And I do not like spending so much time wondering how in the hell these people got elected. On top of wondering if they really believe the excrement they spew. And in this case, excrement is far too fragrant a word compared to the billowing stench steaming out their pores. Aroused super skunks with a tunnel vision charging every human natural desire thought act dream is the Devil fucking with us in His never-ending desire to make everything really really painful and fucked up for everyone/thing in the cosmos because his whiny ass got booted out of Heaven for insubordination (some went so far as to call it treason). Look Yahweh, Jesus, whoever, it is so obvious that Lucifer has some borderline personality disorder, or oppositional defiance syndrome, or some sociopathic need to hurt maim crush and destroy. Maybe he landed on his head when he fell from Heaven, and that fucked with the blood flow to the part of his brain where neurons are wired to chime with the frequencies of compassion, empathy, and etc. such. Satan's whole game stems from Yahweh dropping him on his head when he dropkicked him out of Heaven.
No matter what the legislation, they will use it to pursue their happiness, in this case, deport Dreamers.
The problem is that Republican conservatives want to use the Homeland Security funding bill to reverse President Obama’s executive actions allowing millions of undocumented immigrants to stay without fear of deportation. A measure stripping out money to fund Obama’s initiatives easily passed the House, with its massive GOP majority and streamlined procedural rules. But the Senate is a different story.
It was obvious from the beginning that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) did not have the 60 votes needed to get the bill through the Senate. Nevertheless, McConnell has dutifully brought the bill up three times — and seen it rejected each time by Democrats, who quite reasonably demand a clean funding bill with no extraneous bells or whistles.
Digression: Watched Earth: The New Wild a few days ago. It's a PBS show, and I watched it online. Episode 2 introduced me to some new ideas in land rejuvenation. Such as: grasslands don't become desert because there are too many grazers. The larger the herd, the better some new thinking is showing works. But the herds have to be kept fairly well packed (not uncomfortably so) and moved a lot. The movement of their hooves plow the ground. Their feces fertilize it, their urine waters it. The grasslands thrive. Predators are important when humans aren't looking after the herds. Predators around make the herd animals gather more tightly and inspire continuous movement. The grasslands thrive. To me nature's message is clear: Bountiful herds are a big part of grasslands success. Fuck austerity! It's bountiful that restores!
And of course, they are going to keep throwing up legislation to toss Obamacare on the bonfire. To plunge a sword deep into the heart of programs for older Americans like Social Security and Medicare. To free corporations from any responsibility for the safety of and fair wages for labor, from any responsibility for damaging the environment, free corporations from any responsibility to the country that provided the business environment that created a space for their businesses to flourish by providing the necessary infrastructure and educating a workforce. They are going to keep trying to gut rape laws, reproductive rights laws. For them, only the unborn and the never born (corporations) have personhood rights. Actual persons living get lots of shaft. Oh dear. I'm boiling into tripe now. Sorry.
Well I don't have to tell you guys. We see the daily drivel seeping from the toxic brain fluid dripping out the snouts of the Republican Red Guard. We are not amused. Well, actually, in many instances, the absurdity meter registers so high, we can't help but be amused. Please recount your favorite examples in the comments.
Closer to home, let’s not overlook the fact that the recent Republican track record on scientific issues has been quite woeful of late. Just over the last few months, we’ve seen prominent GOP officials balk at climate science, contraception, vaccinations, post-bathroom hand-washing, and now evolutionary biology.
It's so fucking Bizarro World. Low-wages, deep debt, outta-your-price-range-higher-education insures a low-voltage-psycho-synapse bunny hop to extinction via fascio-capitalissimo fears that the 99% will wake up from their high-fat corn-syrup-induced trance. One can barely keep up with all the emails to politicians and corporations, petitions, protests, and other acts of responsible citizenship required to hold onto those precious visions that make doing the human tango so worthwhile. And now, with this new Republicanned laughter congress, they're mischaracterizing a low-voter-turnout-midterm-election as a mandate for any fart they want to light. Sigh. There'll be damn little rocking back putting our feet on our desks and firing up our victory cigars in the next two years. Or else sleeping pills.
